Research Interests:

Research Methods:

Current Projects:

My current research deals with the effect of livestock and wildlife herbivory onto the grass and woody vegetation in savanna systems. I have investigated spatial and temporal shifts in plant species composition, cover, biomass, nutrient content and other related aspects in Ethiopia (together with a PhD student funded by the Food Security Center). I am also interested in the structural and functional importance of trees for grassland-dominated systems (own work together with some interns working in South Africa and Kenya). Further, I assess human-wildlife conflict herds around protected areas and try to find mitigation and avoidance solutions for future management in these areas (MSc projects in Ghana and South-western China).
